Founded
June 1980 by Loretta Malandro. Company was originally named Malandro Associates. Prior to the start of Malandro Associates, Dr. Malandro was a Professor in the College of Communication at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where she taught Nonverbal and Organizational Communication. After starting her company, Loretta remained in Tempe and later relocated the company to Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1985 the company was incorporated as Malandro Communication Inc.

IBM Discovers Loretta
In the early days, Loretta Malandro became well known as a keynote speaker and trial consultant for the American Bar Association and law firms throughout the United States. A Bar President, impressed with her abilities, recommended Loretta to an IBM executive at corporate headquarters in Armonk, New York. Dr. Malandro was interviewed by IBM and told that they would engage her to teach three leadership sessions at corporate headquarters: If managers rated her highly they would bring her back, if not, they would shake hands and wish her the best.

The results came in immediately and Loretta became a regular presenter at IBM’s management school. Her dynamic and interactive style rapidly gained notoriety at IBM and soon she was traveling throughout the world to deliver keynote presentations for IBM Customer Conferences, Recognition Events and Leadership Meetings.
