Continued from previous page . . .
The previous five statements appear to be descriptions of a self-starter—a highly motivated individual who does his or her best. But wait—each of the above statements also reveals a trap that keeps people stuck in the “good rut”. Being successful and accomplished are two factors that get in the way of both individuals and companies excelling. To paraphrase Voltaire’s statement in today’s lexicon, “good is the enemy of great”. Trying, improving, and doing better are fine and good, but that’s the problem. It’s not great.
Being good is a habit and does not require anything beyond what you are already doing. Being great, on the other hand, is a choice to be the best—a great producer, a great company, a great business. When this choice is made, individuals and companies move into a different stratosphere where incremental improvement is replaced with disciplined thinking, skills, and action. Unprecedented results are produced as people work together to reach higher than ever before.
Length: Recommended keynote length for maximum impact is 60 to 90 minutes. Shorter keynotes (less than an hour in length) are available and focus on delivering a high impact message. Keynotes ranging from a half-day to full day in length provide attendees with specific skills and actions for moving from good to great.
Talk Show Format: Interactive with high audience participation and involvement. Ideal as an opening or closing keynote for your meeting or conference. After-meal presentations not recommended.
